While caring for my mother in various healthcare settings, I learned to love her for the woman she was, not the woman I always wanted her to be. The bond we formed inspired me to write a memoir about that special time we spent together, the nineteen months between her stroke and death that found me returning her unconditional love for me…and forgiving myself in the process.
In My Mother’s Room: A Memoir is a culmination of my graduate studies. It is the story of the poignant journey I spent with my mother for more than a year and a half. It is about forgiveness…forgiving my mother, forgiving myself.
